Syrena needs sleep, but will be back tomorrow or Thursday. :) Love you guys!
“Usually it seems to be the other way around.” Syrena couldn’t surprises a smile. “Do you sing often, Nikolai?”
“Not anymore, no. I’ve no reason to.” He grinned at her. “Have any sailors sung to you?”
Syrena subtly looked down and then back up. “Not in a very long time.” She used to sing for Phillip, and once in a while he would sing for her. But since he had left, it had not happened. She forced a smile. “I don’t visit too many sailors these days. I am trying to start a fresh life, earn a new reputation.”
“That’s good. Did you used to be more of a siren than the gentle young lady I see before me?”
Syrena couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Yes. Yes I was. But, I have changed. After you get to know men, you can’t help but start to like some of them. That makes it much harder to kill them.”

“How did you know?” Syrena couldn’t help but smile. “Is it that obvious, or is your sense of smell really that keen?” He did not look fully human either, she noticed. She did not know what it was, but there was something different about him.
“More like, my sense of smell is attuned to creatures of the deep. You’re not the first mermaid I’ve met, nor the last.”
“Ah, I suppose that makes sense.” Syrena said. “Have you met many of us?”
“Oh yes.” His eyes lit up as he remembered each one. “They were very nice and helped me many times as long as I sang them a song.”
